What populates the description field for imported DB tables
In DB2 the tables have comments on every field and they are very helpful, it would be useful to see these in DataStage, however after importing my table definitions the Description fields all come through as empty. Can we get our DB2 comments into DataStage?

Hi,
depending on wether the method used for import of table definitions supports this or not is the real limit of having or not having this info.
check with the docs acording to the method you use.
(In Oracle plugin there is a column comment check box but I have yet to find a table with comments for the columns
)

Yeah I was very surprised to find useful comments and business rules documented within our database table definitions. Our DBAs must be on drugs or something. I'll keep playing with it. At the moment I have printed off the comments and when I work on DataStage jobs I refer to my paper copies.
