Installing 8.x (8.5) into Amazon Cloud - EC2

Has anyone had any luck? I've got the WAS admin console & the IIS Web admin console both working via RDP from another EC2 windows machine, but no luck w/DataStage/DS Admin, Director, etc from same machine. Errors are:
**************************************************************
Failed to connect to Information Server Engine: DOMU-12-31-39-14-36-61:31538, project: Test
(The connection has timed out (81015))
**************************************************************
Sessions tailed in the ISauditLog_0.log file match session ID's that appear in the "Active Sessions" of the IIS Web console (example shown below). The DataStage connection appears, then disconnects after acknowledging the error dialog.
Every imaginable port & protocol is open (ICMP, UDP/TCPIP), (9043, 9060, 9080, 31540, 31541, 31538, 2825 - WAS bootstrap, 22, 80, ). Firewalls are completely disabled on both the Windows server & the Redhat server. The ports/protocols mentioned above are controlled by the AWS EC2 console - some refer to it as Amazon's "perimeter firewall".
There's got to be a magic bullet here. Anyone?
