Sure and it has been discussed here a zillion times. Kim Duke has a complete set of utilities for doing this (and much more) freely available from his website - search there and here for discussions of ETLStats. Might be a little overwhelming, though.
For just the requirements as you've stated, you'll need to roll up your own using either the various 'DSGetLog*' API functions or their dsjob equivalents from the command line if you want to script it. Both are documented in the online help and in either "____ Job Developer's Guide" pdf in the Command Line Interface section. Again, you can search here for DSGetLog for a ton of conversations on the subject.
