I use a server routine to execute Korn Shell scripts at various points in my sequence. The routine takes 3 parameters:
Script Name
Script Arguments
Environment
There is also a fourth parameter that is an output parameter:
Screen Output
At certain points, that fourth parameter(referenced via an activity variable) is used to initialize a job parameter of a following job.
During a recent run, a job following one of these routine calls failed because of a database issue. After the database issue was resolved, I tried to restart the sequence, but it failed.
After some investigation, I discovered that the activity variable empty.
I looked at the Job Control code and the execution of the routine is being checkpointed.
One thing that makes me wonder is that, when the routine is executed, the output parameter is initialized with "", because Datastage won't let me leave it blank.
Does anyone have any ideas why, on the restart, that activity variable doesn't get populated with the value from the previous run?
Thanks,
JD
