Hello all,

I have an orphan job that i can not delete from the manager/designer.
Each time I try to do anything with this job I egt error message:
Cannot find job ....
How can i delete or repair this job from the repository?
Where can i get a manual on the datastage engine commands, and on the repository tables and structure?

Good morning Ran,

there are actually two parts to your question - the first is getting rid of the symptom of an orphan job and the other is finding out how it happened so that you can avoid the issue in the future.

Most likely your repository has some messed up pointers, you can repair this by going into the Administrator (or enter the UniVerse engine another way - i.e. do a TELNET to your windows server with the DS engine installed). The command you should execute is DS.TOOLS and the menu option is the Rebuild Repository Indices (to be done when nobody else is working in that project). This will most likely clear up the inconsistencies. If not I am sure you will let us know

The other issue is how this occurred - do you have an idea of what sort of event might have caused this? System crash / disk full / etc.?
