So... you know nothing of DataStage and yet have been placed at a client site to Administer their installation? Yikes. 
Your questions are quite all encompassing, each one a large discussion in their own right. First suggestion would be to get your hands on the pdf documentation that installs with the client, so if the client is on your PC then you have all the docs. There are several "guides" including an Administration guide for your dining and dancing pleasure, suggest you start there. IBM also offers training classes, seems like that would be something for your company to invest in as the true "training" materials are only offered as part of those classes.
