Transaction logging
In a job I have, the "Rows per transaction" is set to 0, which means all records are seen as one transaction. When the job aborts, the data is not rolled back. All records before the error are still written to the table. How do I change this so that all the records roll back ? I want to do this to k...

Double quotes
Another problem I have, is loading text files where the delimiter is a comma and all fields are placed between double quotes. The data loads fine, but some fields already had quotes in them before the load file was created, so now Im sitting with to many quotes for some fields, eg. ""Bahamas"" (2 qu...

Rejected rows
Just a question, we have not gone completely live with our Datastage / Redbrick applications. I am close to going live though, but something bothers me still. It could happen that I try to load records that will be rejected - because of foreign key constraints or data type mismatches, etc. I load mo...

Ray and William, thank you for your replies. I used the "Replace" option under the "incomplete column" section and the job works fine now. I check the "first line is header" option to suppres the header line, and test for the last line in the constraint box of the transformer stage. The "Replace" op...

WORK FILES
We are running Unidata 5.2 on NT.
Does it make sense to make all temporary work files dynamic instead of static ?

Need System Administrator/Programmer
Inland Truck Parts is looking for an mid-level AIX SA who wants to learn Jbase. Even though we have 2 RS6000s and a fairly large Linux server farm, an SA alone would be bored rather quickly - theyre pretty stable and dont require a huge amount of attention. Getting into applications programming woul...

We actually skipped 4 and went from 3 to 5. We werent happy with 4 for a number of reasons although GUI performance was a lot of it and by the time we had geared ourselves up to doing it 5 was on the way. Moving to 5 didnt cause us any significant problems but did cause work particularly in strippin...

In the DataStage Engine (UniVerse) environment, in the server engine (UV) account, you can, as administrator (superuser) use the command PORT.STATUS. Any process executing DSD.RUN is a DataStage job. Any process executing DSD.StageRun is an active stage, probably a Transformer stage. In the project ...

Be VERY WARY using filepeek. Layout of the file header changes from time to time. The offset you need (for release 9.4 and later) can be found in FILINFO.H file in the UNIVERSE.INCLUDE directory. -----Original Message----- From: Hruby, Paul [mailto:PHruby@ci.scottsdale.az.us] Sent: Saturday, 20 Octo...

Ken; How do you pass things from the trigger to the background process? We use the triggers to update (what is poorly described as) our OLAP type system. This makes some transactions pretty slow. This sounds like a pretty good way to speed things up. P.S. I didnt design/code this thing - I just had ...
