CleanUp Project from the Administrator client performs two tasks, one is to re-build the indexes on the Repository, the other is to seek out and delete any "orphan" files remaining after the jobs that use them no longer exist. These correspond to options 2 (rebuild Repository indices) and 4 (check i...

Sorry Ray, I did not mean to surgest that you change the uvconfig/.uvconfig files lightly. But is the procedure I outlined incorrect? Hi Radha, The advantage of having the umask in dsenv is that, this mask will apply to all DS users/developers/operators... whereas if you have it in a .profile file it will apply to a single user, unless you have a generic .profile that applies to all DS users on your machine! Thats the only advanta...

Dirk, There is a file .uvconfig (which also exists in the Unix Version) that has many parameters in it. It exists in a path like: C:ArdentDataStageServerEngine There is a Entry in this file UVTEMP (which defaults to C:TEMP) which I believe to be similar to DS_MMAPPATH. The last time I altered an ent...

You are right. I will probably have to accept the fact and move on. I am from the school where you try to keep processes as simple as possible - with as few "stages" as possible - if you know what I mean. I wanted to keep the loading inside Datastage, where I have more control over the job. I am not...

Transaction isolation

Hi all, we have a problem with a job that reads from an Oracle table and writes to another one after having tested two lookups. The update action used is User-Defined SQL containing an update statement inside. The job reads 26000 records and the Array size and Transaction isolation are both set to 3...

Dirk, Redbrick was designed with a high-performance bulk-loader called TMU. This handles both inserts and updates. Your issues with the ODBC driver are long standing issues with Redbrick. Since Redbrick was designed back in the day by Kimball to be a pure data warehousing platform, its mechanism for...

I agree with the NN setting. But in this case, these messages shouldnt actually be received by Datastage, because of the disable_info line in the rbodbc32.ini file. At the moment Im getting 2 messages for every record being updated, 100 records updated - 200 messages displayed. This is the part that...
