The only problem we have with using dsexport.exe in batch mode is the message at the end about read-only objects not exported. Does anyone have a workaround to this one (apart from the obvious of making those built-in objects non-read-only)? -----Original Message----- From: Ray Wurlod [mailto:ray.wu...

Hi Karthi There are a few options on how to generate datastage jobs. We decide to take an easy option. At a high level, these are the steps: 1. Create a template in datastage. 2. Export the template. 3. Massage the template with Perl to produce 300+ jobs. 4. Concatenate the 300+ jobs into a single f...

Forgive my ignorance, but I have not come across dsimpdsx.exe Where does it come from? Roch suggests that it comes with later versions of DataStage. If so, which versions? While Im on the subject, is anyone using change control software for both DataStage AND other products. In particular, we also n...

Craig, Thanks for the feedback. You input and experience is appreciated. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to an installed copy of ORAOIC8 ver 2.3, so I cant test that version to see how it used to behave. Maybe someone else can. Not having to worry about timing of the table being cleared is a ...

I use these constructs extensively and have found out the following thru the School of Hard Knocks. (Note that these apply specifically to OCI version 3 and may behave differently under earlier versions of the stage) TRUNCATE happens when the OCI stage is "opened" at the beginning of the job, before...

Been there, done that... but he was talking about an *upgrade*, hence my response. Out of curiousity, how are you moving these projects between servers that requires you to then have to recompile everything on the new server? -craig To: cc: 01/18/02 Subject: Re: RE: compiling all jobs in one shot 12...

Try moving complete projects with 1000+ jobs around between DEV/TEST/PROD servers. Youll quickly recognize the value of a tool to compile all the jobs at once. Also, you can see the progress and success/failure info as the jobs are being compiled. > > From: "Craig Hulett" > Date: 2002/01/18 Fri PM 0...

Not sure why you would need to do this manually. Upgrading an existing server automatically upgrades/recompiles all jobs in the projects. Also, importing into a newer version from an older version does the same thing. Unless Im missing something here... -craig "Kim Duke" cc: Subject: RE: compiling a...

help on Use Named Pipes

Has anyone out there got some information or examples on the "Use Named Pipes" feature of the Sequential file stage? I have some big text files to process and I was hoping the Named Pipe functionality would help to split it up and process it in parallel jobs. Eg. one job reads the text file and writ...
