Parallel Performance, CoSORT SMP Sort>Load
Hi Kasia; Another approach to speeding loads using your CPUs is through CoSORT. You can define one or more parallel pre-sorts on your longest / primary index key (assuming a bulk load into say, Oracle) through the new CoSORT Plug-In for DataStage (in standard or direct I/O mode), or through an exter...

Ive only seen such behavior one time, when I had Visio installed on the same machine... there may be other products with subtle graphic-monitor-related conflicts, but that was the issue... not sure which product was stepping on the other, but once the two products were no longer co-existent, the pro...

Type of log entry
Dear all!
Please answer, can I write to job log file an entry with my own type, and then read this log and filter records I need?
Best regards,Alexandre Stoulov

Hi Denzil About the upgrade. I can do it on Friday 25th January 2002. About the problem. It is data that gets converted that cause the problem. E.G. If you do transformation with a field that is numeric but the actual data is not numeric you will receive abnormal termination. What you can do is to r...

anywhere else i can lok for a diagnoses
Hi guys I am running Datastage 4.0.0 on a unix environment. The stage I am having problems with is as follows: ODBC connection to Informix database, selecting data over a period from a single table. the data is sent through a transformer stage and data is converted. Data is taken from there and FTPd...

Running jobs in parallel - is it really more performant?
Running jobs in parallel - is it really more performant? We have just 2 processors and Im afraid that running 2 jobs in parallel will speed down the load. What are the points to consider or parameters to set to take advantage of parallelism? We are running Datstage v4.1 on an Aix server with 1GHz of...

When we move elements between projects, we also always export each individual element to a single file and keep a history of changes this way. The full export was more for a convenient way of backing the entire project, which is why it is important that it runs unattended in batch. If we had a catas...

Datastage and Sybase
Hello, We are using Datastage 4.2.1 in combination with Sybase Server 12 and Sybase IQ 12. We have some performance problems with lookups and updates. Does anyone use these tools? Or does anyone have a solution for these problems. There must be someone who uses this combination, not? (notice the des...

Craig, The problem is the message itself. It stops the batch process waiting for a response that it is never going to get. Scotts answer appears to solve that problem, however I am yet to see the impact in the import. Will it complain about overwriting read-only objects? Maybe it doesnt matter that ...

Musings on Datastage
Grp, There was a question on the datawarehousing list that asked if anybody has evaluated Datastage against other ETL tools, what are the pros/cons, what are its strengths and weaknesses etc. Can we get some reviews from the group here. It would be good if comparisions could also be drawn on tools l...

These items are actually the built in components of DS that can not be modified. Such as the routines and transforms that reside in every project anyway. They are coded with a VMBI. These are the items that do not get included and you get the message about them. Rick Schirm VP Operations DCS-Strateg...

Im curious... is the problem with the batch export and the message the fact that the message *itself* comes up (and needs to be suppressed/ignored somehow), or the fact that you really need the read-only objects included? Can anyone clarify what exactly these read-only objects are that are being lef...

>>> david@barham.hm 01/21/2002 8:52:48 PM >>> The only problem we have with using dsexport.exe in batch mode is the message at the end about read-only objects not exported.
