I asked for this 2+ years ago - and have had no response so good luck asking! Why should you have to split and then rejoin the data I said, you would use the same logic to split as you would to perform/not perform the lookup. Doesnt make sense to me but then development engineers have certain ideas ...

ORAOCI upgrading from DataStage 4.0.2 to DataStage 4.2.1 r8
Hi there, With all this question on ORAOCI, I take the opportunity to ask you something. Ive to upgrade a DataStage release from 4.0.2 to 4.2.1 r.8 on Unix Sun Solaris 2.7, where Oracle 8.1.6 server is running. What I would like to ask you is if is correct that upgrading the software at plug-in choi...

Do or dont do lookups
Hello, Environment: Datastage 4.2.1, Sybase 12, Sybase IQ 12, Solaris 2.8 Is it possible to make lookups that only do the lookups in certain conditions (kind of conditional lookups)? For example: I only want to do lookups for a certain field when the value is not NULL. I know that you can do this by...

Exporting Jobs
HI To continue an on-going theme from last week, I need to export about 1300 jobs, however I do not want to create one large dsx file containing the whole project, but a dsx for each job. Does anyone know how I can do this automatically either through the command line or an API? I am on DS 3.6 Thank...

Oracle 8i OCI
Thanks for the info, but ... If I understand correctly, you were still using the Oracle 8i client to connect to the 9i database. I wonder if anyone has used DataStage with the Oracle 9i client? A different question. As you will see, this is not strictly a DataStage question, it is actually an Oracle...

I have connected via OCI8 using Oracle networking 8.1.7 with no problems using DataStage 4.2.1r8 on HPUX. I have used this quite actively with no problems. I have also connected to a 9i database using the same 8.1.7 networking. It seemed to work but I have not performed any real tests yet. ----- Ori...

As I understand it, there are 2 flavours of the ORAOCI8 plugin. You must choose one or the other when you install the plugin and you cant have both installed. One is for Oracle 8 (ie 8.0.x) and the other is for Oracle 8i (ie 8.1.x). Ive seen some people confuse about which version to use. It all dep...

Oracle 8.1.6 plug-in
Does anyone know if the Oracle 8.1.6 plugin that is supplied by DataStage will work with Oracle 8.1.7? We dont do anything fancy with our OCI stages. Just simple inserts and updates. Thanks! Brad Vincent Data Warehousing with a "health"-y spin Compuware c/o The Detroit Medical Center (313) 578-3670

Applying Unix Patches
Has anyone out there ever seen a case where the applying of a Unix patch would adversely affect datastage system performance? Were getting ready to do this on our production box. Is there a need to run the details of the patch by someone in the Ascentials System Support group first? Thanks - Kittisa...

I am sure I have seen a similar error, when the array size field isnt filled in correctly. If in doubt look at the field by right-clicking the stage and going in to grid-style. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Muthusamy Karthikeyan" To: Sent: Wednesday, February 06, 2002 2:33 AM Subject: DS 5.1 /...

Dumping Log Entries to File
Asim, The problem here is the argument "Job" in your DSGetLogSummary() function. It is an unassigned variable, which means that the function returns DSJE.BADHANDLE (-1). Try using DSJ.ME (handle to the current job) as the first argument to DSGetLogSummary. Four other suggestions. 1. You do not need ...
