We got the same message on one of the version 4 releases when ORACLE_HOME was not defined correctly in the dsenv file. You might want to make sure your dsenv file is correct. Also, in 5.1 at least, dsenv had to have the execute permission bit set. Good luck Larry -----Original Message----- From: Cri...

weve processed up to 1.5GB on some files and it does not seem to be a problem for us. at least for us, processing time depends also on the number of routines being used inside the transform and on how many fields these routines are used on. -----Original Message----- From: Kancharla,Radha,GLENDALE,I...

I would like to thank all for giving me the support and guidance to the "Global Variables World". Now I think that the best way to create global persistant variables is to use hash file. Then I can use I/O statement like OPEN, READ, WRITE, CLOSE to allow rapid and efficient access to DataStage hash ...

Radha the answer to the maximum size of a file DataStage PX can process is "the biggest you can create" on your hardware. As part of the fully documented Benchmark we recently performed at a IBM lab using DataStage PX we processed a full terabyte of data. Check out www.etlbenchmark.com for the in de...

A trivial example first. Consider the following job design. S0 ----> T1 ----> S2 S3 ----> T4 -----> S5 There are two clearly independent streams in this job. Transformer stage T1 will execute in one process, running an instance of uvsh (dssh) to do so, while Transformer stage T4 will execute in a se...

While Im on this thread, I would like to warn everyone who has great hopes of variables defined to be COMMON that such variables are only common in one process. If your job design is such that its innate parallelism causes more than one process to be started by active stages (probably Transformer st...

Help in setting up datastage in mainframes.
Hi, We have got a product from one of our clients and it has the conventional Datastage components with the mainframe tool. Now I want to know if we have to do any extra setup when we install this tool at our end? Apart from of course the NT installations. Please help. Regards, Viswanath ___________...

Check out the TRANS function as an even easier one to understand and use than OCONV for this kind of purpose. For even greater efficiency, learn about raw I/O statements in BASIC (OPEN, READ, WRITE, CLOSE, etc.) for even more efficient access. Yet another topic in "Programming with DataStage BASIC" ...

Hi Stacy, Ive been using Datastage in Australia for a few years. One of the nice features of using Datastage 390 is that ruleset for filtering the data BEFORE it is sent on to the UNIX or NT server resides on the Mainframe. There are at least 2 advantages to this. 1) Yes, the data must travel from t...
