In the UniVerse (or DataStage Engine) environment, to which you can connect (because you are on a Windows platform) using telnet, there is a program called CONNECT. This allows you to act as an interactive user with the ODBC DSN (provided everything has been set up correctly, particularly the uvodbc...

Experience has shown that some performance gains can be had, particularly for large hashed files, if static rather than dynamic hashed files are used. While this is somewhat outside the scope of the original question, I felt it was worth noting. There is an unsupported utility (hashed file calculato...

How to create a hash file in a job control?
Is there a way to dynamically create a hash file in a job control?
I can Open, Read and Close a hash file, but it seems that the CREATE.FILE command is not available in DataStage Basic. It only works in the Command Line Interface (CLI).
Thanks for any input
Christian

ODBC vs OCI
Use ODBC stage versus an OCI stage in a DataStage job. Some background. An Oracle OCI stage is a native connection to Oracle from DataStage, that is it uses the Oracle SQLnet connection to the database. Similar principles also apply other to other native database connections (Eg Informix CLI or Syba...

Not quite, Mark. Brian Gray remains as a primarily U2 trainer; it is he who has picked up RedBack and MITS while I have been "distracted" becoming a guru and evangelist for Red Brick Warehouse. Also, Anastasia Patsakos (sales) spends pretty much all of her time working with our U2 community. To be b...
