Youd have to think its in 6.x, because its in 5.x! Its built on software acquired when Ascential purchased Torrent. Did you want "how it works" to be "what do I do in DataStage?" or "what happens under the covers?". The latter can be had from the DataStage manuals but, essentially, involves enabling...

Parallel processing in DS 6x
I have two questions here for the users group:
> Is the DS XE Parallel Extender add-on option integrated with DS 6x
release?
> Documentation/explanation of how the parallel processing in 6x works
> will
be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Rachna Rana.

Can you check that the hashed file name does, in fact, appear on the link properties page in the Hashed File stage? It appears (from the pathname ".") that the pathname of the hashed file is not being generated. -----Original Message----- From: Binu R T [mailto:binurt@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, 27 Sep...

Peformance degradation against a Partitioned DB2 database
Hi all, I was wondering has anyone encountered any performance issues when running datastage jobs against a DB2 partitioned database? The scenario I have here is that we have two AIX boxes that are environmentally configured the same, except that on one box we have a Non-partitioned DB2 database and...

Hi Ray Checked out the ODBC trace and found an error. It was the "Regional Settings" that was ticked in the ODBC. Everything is ok now. Yes using version 2000.80.194.00 dated 2000/08/06. I have accessed the tables using MS Access and they come back no problem. I will initiate the ODBC trace and whats going on. Thanks Ray. -----Original Message----- From: Ray Wurlod [mailto:rayw@mindless.com] Sent: 27 September 2002 11:49 To: datasta...

Curiously, perhaps, Ascential have not provided for this, even unto release 5.2. The only remedy, as Wolfgang advised, is to create whats called a "VOC F pointer" in your project. You can do this from the Administrator client Command window or from a telnet session to the DataStage Engine in your pr...

I take it youre using an up-to-date ODBC driver for SQL 2000? (Have to ask.) Can other utilities, such as MS Access, link the tables and see the columns? It might be worth initiating an ODBC trace (see Tracing tab in ODBC administrator) to see whats being requested and whats being returned. You defi...

It would be interesting to see the entire error message, but I will assume that the error code is 2, which means that the entry does not exist. Check that the name of the hashed file is spelled correctly using the correct case. Hashed file names are case sensitive. If youve placed the hashed file in...

Thanks Wolgang Yes this is to import the metadata. Ill try the second option, the first one doesnt always work. Sometimes after saving the table definitions of the hashfile and try to use in an other job, the data arent always correct, they are either not displayed or are in different columns. The b...

Hi Ray Yes, its an ODBC stage. I only non standard, if you call it that, is the key fields are "identity" columns in SQL 2000. I tried what you suggested, still get the warning obviously, but can only see the one column which displays incorrectly....weird. -----Original Message----- From: Ray Wurlod...

Hi Leonie, what do you want to do? By choosing between account and path you choose where the file is created. account => in a subdirectory of the datastage-uv-account and you can manage it in the account. path => the file will be created/used in the path you mention. DataStage job job can write and ...

Import Hash files
Hi everyone
How can you import a hash file when you used the "Use directory path"
instead of "Use account name"?
Thanks

hash file error
Hi all, Im getting a error in hash file stage. The error is DSD.UVOpen Unable to open file. View data in hash stage also giving same error. i.e hash file is not existing. Is it a lock? Can one suggest a workaround? But other hash file stages in the same job are able to create files and gone through....
