Chances are that you have a socket that is still marked as "in use" - that is, the attempt to bind a socket when the dstelnet service started failed because it could not bind a socket. The netstat utility may give you some idea about socket usage; you may also be able to switch on unirpc debugging (...

The safest answer is no, because the scheduling information is external to the project. DataStage itself relies on cron (or at on Windows platforms) for scheduling; other sites prefer to use a third party scheduler. Were you to execute the interrogative form of the crontab (or at) command via DSExec...

Just to add, data element helps you to share common domains for you development needs. You get most of them from your data model. But there are needs where you need to define data elements in DataStage. -----Original Message----- From: Ray Wurlod [mailto:rayw@mindless.com] Sent: Thursday, November 0...

Data Elements are like user-defined data types. You can, for example, create a data element called CustNo, and use this to track customer number throughout your job designs, table definitions, Transforms, and so on. I usually implement a data element called Money, to track anything thats money (usua...

Difference between SQL type and Data Element

Hi,

Can someone explain to me the difference between the "SQL Type" and the "Data Element" in a table deffinition? Do I need to define both? When should I define which?

Thanks.

Hi Rui, If it was a conflict with another service then you normally get a different error code to the one you are getting. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rui Soares" To: Sent: Thursday, November 07, 2002 3:33 PM Subject: RE: Telenet Services > Hi Simon, > > We only just started getting this err...

Job Schedule Information via Routine

Is there a way for a routine to access schedule information for a job in a project?

Hi Rui, Have you only just started getting this error or is it since you have upgraded to a new version ? This looks like either a problem with the windows TCP/IP layer (probably not if not updated) or a problem in the DataStage server code that creates the socket connection. The error code you are ...

Hi Tim, You might get some benefit from replacing your call of "DateGenericToTimeStamp" with an in-line transform. The routine is expending effort trying to recognise different formats, whereas (Im assuming) your input is in one of the Oracle formats. Alternatively, could you do a "TO_CHAR" in Oracl...
