Ray, You are absolutely correct for the derivation within a Transformer Stage. This is an ugly window, but Ive learned to deal with it over the years! I am talking about a Custom Transform in the Manager under Transforms/Custom/ & Transforms/sdk & Transforms/Built-In. They are essentially the same t...

The number of lines in the expression editor is configurable (under Tools > Options iirc - I am on vacation and working from an Internet Cafe, and they dont have DS installed!). The expression window is also of indefinite width (though there is a limit on the size of an expresion - 8K from memory). ...

It appears to me that the problem is that Excel allows you to have differenet data types in a column but ODBC drivers do not. The solution then is to transform into a single data type and given you cant get it into DataStage, you need to do it in Excel. The easiest way to acheive this is to insert a...

Thank you Ray, I will probably put the original code in the long description area. PS: Where is the best place to send DataStage enhancement requests. I think its pretty poor that the derivation area for a transform only allows a single line of code, without carriage returns. However, a derivation i...

Given that a derivation in a Transformer stage is a single expression (that is, a single line of BASIC), commenting it out is the same as removing it. Cut it from its location and store it in the stage properties long description field if you want to keep it. If you are contemplating altering the co...

Commenting Out Code
Hello All, I know how to comment out code in a routine, but unfortunately, the code that I want to comment out is not in a routine. I was hoping that I could comment out code in a derivation in a Transformer Stage. Does anyone know how I would accomplish this? Is there a special datastage character ...
