Thanks Adam, Does a calculation on every row of data in a loop work fine, I was worried because i read some where that datastage does not have a looping construct, how does this effect data processing. Thanks Mir -----Original Message----- From: amcguinness@qbe.com.au [mailto:amcguinness@qbe.com.au]...

This is precisely what DataStage does. The amount of coding depends on the complexity of the task you are trying to achieve, but typically involves no more than selecting functions, input columns, etc. from drop-down lists. Sounds like you need to get some DataStage training very soon. Please organi...

Mir As with most database related products, you can do just about any calc you like. There are different methods that could be employed depending on the complexity. You can do straight calculations in jobs eg. A * B or replace B with a variable passed into the job if you wish. You can build custom r...

John All you need is the COBOL copybooks from your source system in ASCII format with a file extension of .csd. As our source system is a mainframe, I just download the COBOL copybooks to a target directory on the LAN that the DataStage server can see, and add an extension of .csd, and import them. ...

Performing calculations in datastage
Hi, I am new to datastage, and I am looking to make a case for its use on a project where we plan to exract data from csv format files, and apart from data format transforms also intend to perform calculations on the raw data and then store the processed data in a datamart for reporting purposes. I ...

importing COBOL copybooks?
Can anyone give me the quick and dirty on what type of file exactly this is? In Manager the extension is given as a .cdf. Our vendor keeps giving me word documents. Is this .cdf a binary file or special format? Thanks John -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web...

Hello, We use both, ORAOCI8 and ORAOCIBL, having just converted 600+ jobs from Sybase using sybaseOC and BCP loads. On some of the jobs I used ORAOCI8 to later change them to ORAOCIBL to find a dramatic improvement in load times. The downside for us, is that I am doing a truncate with a Job sub-rout...

Poor perfomance with OLEDB stage
All, I am having performance concerns with the OLEDB, we have a straight select from a single table and the best performance we are able to get out of the stage for this query is about 5K rows a second. I have performed various tests running this simple query directly to the flat file stage that ref...

Hello All, I have a question about ORAOCIBL stages. I am currently in the process of testing jobs replacing ORAOCI stages with ORAOCIBL stages where allowed. I will be using these new stages where I had jobs that just did inserts to the Oracle Database. I know there are pros and cons to every stage....
