Change it to what it really should be. Sql Server datatypes via ODBC

Hi Folks,

I have imported some table definitions from a Sql Server database via ODBC. Some of the datatypes are being shown as "-11". These are shown as blanks in "view data" and do not map across.

Any ideas how to handle these ???

Thanks,
Andy.

The error you are getting, 81016, implies that the TCP/IP connection was refused. Check to see if the unirpcd process is running on the remote machine, and check which port it is running on. Accessing a remote Universe Database with DataStage

Hi All I have a client who needs to access a Universe database which is not on the same server as the DataStage server. I have read through the Universe pdf file and created an account in the UV.Account file on the DataStage server cpu. I have also created an ODBC entry in uvodbc.config. However, wh...

I have recently assisted in implementing such a scheme where there is a five-level hierarchy of jobs, the top four being control jobs. We used job sequencers to prototype these, then modified the code generated by compiling the job sequencers to include calls to generic user-written functions which,...

You can also easily create a new job with parameters of your choosing via Parameter Manager (PM). You can download PM at m. Also you can view a tutorial on PM that has a section specifically dedicated to creating new jobs via PM (that specific section is entitled "Adding Parameters to a New Dat...

This is all very interesting. In investigating MFILES in light of earlier conversations, I ran across this entry in the Unix Server Administration Guide: "Running Out of File Units You may need to perform some additional tuning if you come across the problem of running out of file units. The DataSta...

At one site I assisted in developing something like this in order to implement a full restart capability. So it wasnt really for audit, but used the same techniques. In this project the overall ETL was divided into nine phases which ran one after another. If, for any reason, processing was interrupt...

Start and end times for active stages are logged, with number of rows processed on each connected link also reported. Look in the log for messages of the form "active stage starting" and "active stage finishing". Passive stages in server jobs do not generate processes, so do not have start and finis...

MFILES

Warning! MFILES is a configuration parameter for the DataStage Engine. It is, however, closely related to a UNIX tunable (on most UNIX platforms) and can cause disasters if set too high. UNIX allows a certain number of files to be open per user. This is set by a kernel parameter called NFILE, or NOF...

Ken, Thanks again for your insight. And would you be able to share the job control code that populates the audit model tables directly during run time. Does anyone else have such code to share?
