hello ThilSe, the information isn't really enought to give an answer in this case; from the comments it seems that this used to work at 7.0 and no longer does after going to 7.5.1. It really boils down to DS thinking that the key isn't present while you think it is. Normally problems finding keys on...

Sainath, upgrading from 7.1 to 7.5.1 will not automatically improve your performance. I think that is correct to say that newer versions will allow you more functionality that in turn will let you get more performance but there is no magic upgrade switch. Upgrading your Oracle from 9 to 10 is going ...

Track_Star, I didn't respond when you posted your comment, since this whole thread has been about why DataStage doesn't let you define specific hardware interfaces - I thought we had this subject discussed to a conclusion and then you so succintly stated that "PX can handle it". Perhaps you could po...

Good timing, I'm downloading a DVD player so that I can watch The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy DVD I just bought Too bad that Douglas Adams is gone. I heard him speak at an Ascential kickoff several years back; he was also a technohead {Mac lover, I gather; but it's best not to speak ill of the ...

The answers to your questions depend upon what sort of stages you are talking about. Basically, if you write to a table with the commit frequency set to 1 and with no buffering and your reads from the same table are not cached then you will get immediate visibility. If you change your commit frequen...

You can use the same table for lookups and updates. You need to be aware of how you are updating this table - do you want an update to be immediately "found" by the next read or not? This applies to database connections, ODBC and also hashed file stages. The subject has been discussed at length here.

Hello Tania, my first thought would be to look at your sequential file output at the line that was truncated in the bulk loader and see if there are any non-displayable characters or other oddities in that line. You can use your favored binary editor or (my usual method) of "cat -v" on that data. My...

Jan, the code maps are stored in Hashed files, which can be read from and written to in DataStage jobs. You can write a job to extract the map information into a form you wish to use, utilize your favorite external editor to manipulate the file contents and then re-import into DataStage. There is no...

Gauravb, pricing for both DS and Infa is much worse than anything you will ever see at a used car dealership. The published list prices bear no resemblance to the actual price a client will pay. The are many factors that influence the price which you haven't stated, so no real response is going to b...
