I signed up with prometric and it seems that they WILL let me schedule a test; so perhaps it exists already after all. The only date that the local center offers this month is this Friday - I'm going to have to check out why the dates and times are so limited, and then I'll schedule and study up. Do...

DataStage "Stages" are split into active and passive stages, where passive stages are such things as DB and file system sources and targets and active stages are transforms, sort, aggregate, partitioner, etc. Active stages are effectively implemented as (portions of) running programs and passive sta...

Can you use the DB/2 bulk loader? That would make your job go much faster. Are you doing upserts or pure inserts? Does your table have partitions and/or indices and constraints/triggers that can slow down normal loads?

Vindy, The OCONV() functions you have will convert an internal representation to an external one, so before you can convert your raw strings to the appropriate format you will need to convert them to internal format. Assuming you don't need any data error correction you can use: Temp1 = ICONV(LE...

Hello nkreddy_3, A Type 2 SCD can be implemented in many ways in both the DWH as well as in the ETL tool. Typically when you get a new column value in the SCD you will need to check it against it's value in the database; if it has changed you will need to update the old value and also to insert the ...

Pal,

I have 7.5.1 installed at work and I went into the directory and checked the version before posting. Perhaps there was a change between the initial 7.5 and the newest release.

It would be embarrassing if I failed - I'd lose my free membership here and couldn't go out in public without putting on a fake beard, fake hair and a pronounced fake limp. Even then somebody would see me, point and shout out "Ha, Ha - look at the loser who flunked his PX exam!". I sent a letter to ...

I got my ID for Pearson and (not surprisingly) the exam for DataStage is still airware - nothing in the IBM section about it at all.

I don't know if the USB 2.0 speed is going to be much better than a disk drive, though. I've done it where I needed space more than speed. But it is a bit like a RAM drive of olden days. {updated} The USB 2.0 can transfer at 480Mb/S whereas the ATA drives only do about 33/66/100/133 depend upon whic...

Kumar - Dan is right, the recompile is worth a shot! I've had to do "force-compile" in the past; even though a normal compile should have rectified my problems. But we've all learned the hard way that "should" and "ought to" and "according to the documentation" and "theoretically..." don't always ag...

It helps, but not quite. Could you explain the 4 columns? I'm used to having parts as the lowest component, then n-parts that make up an assembly. You have a "plant" and the last column of "seq". What constitutes a unique part, 3 of your columns? Depending on what you need to identify an assembly yo...

Colin, I've been working with this product since before it went out as Version 0.0beta and don't know what sort of an error on DSX import you are talking about, either. Please post the error message(s). If these firewalled PCs have USB ports, I would recommend getting a USB stick as big as possible,...

DSR_NLS is a DataStage internal NLS helper routine.
Do other jobs or sequences compile correctly? Do you have NLS installed and activated?
