Sure you can do it, but seeing as how you have to boot to one or the other O/S at any given time, it doesn't make a lot of sense does it?

I don't see the point of any sort of external check-in/check-out capability nor the merge/branch functionality as IMHO they are bascially worthless in this GUI environment. First off, do you really need to load all records into the hashed files? Are you using the hashed files just to de-dupe the data? That's doesn't seem to me to be the best approach for a volume like that. :?

Can't help with the first (no DB2 anywhere I've been) but the answer to the second question is a definite 'no' regardless of DBMS.

From your end, all you may be able to do (if you have the permissions) is unlock their sesssion thus losing their changes and then you can open it.

Honestly, you pretty much just put in the disc and choose to install the client from the autorun menu. You'll need your authorization code, of course.
