I know my reply sounded a bit facetious but it really wasn't. DataStage doesn't have any control over the number of CPUs that get leveraged - your operating system does. And unless you want to start worrying about processor affinity I would suggest you not worry about it all that much and let the O/...

Has it always been this way or has something changed and now it has slowed down? Are your servers local or remote?

No, regardless of that. The former controls how many 'readers' will work on a file per node and the latter allows multiple nodes to process a file, in essence by partitioning it. As noted in the docs they are mutually exclusive.

If that "build sql option" means the stage itself generates the SQL that it uses, then I would report that as a bug. Or look on Fix Central to see if this is a known issue. Or both.

That would imply your characterset is incorrect somewhere along the line. And it may be more about the writing than the reading. What is your target? And for grins - when you say "UTF", which UTF do you mean?

<crickets>

Me, I've never worked anywhere that even attempted any kind of a chargeback, so can't really help you there. But did want to at least reply. :(

1. A surrogate key and a primary key are two entirely different things, although the former can be used for the latter. The definitions for both are easily searched for out there in the wild. 2. It is specifically coded to work in a parallel environment and not deliver duplicates. From what I recall...

Not sure why you would need to assume anything, either you do or you don't based on the nature of the data and the target tables you need to populate. And that's not something we can determine for you. If you do, I would assume a stage variable would be appropriate to store the member id and then le...
