How to validate or QA your data warehouse

We have been going through this lately and it brought to memory a few tips I thought I would suggest. These are just some random thoughts. Maybe I will organize them later. 1. Start with the easy fields. Sometimes the hard fields will fall out when you validate something simple. Maybe use a few temp...

It would be difficult to edit the repository files directly. You might be able to edit the DSX file. I think you could compile it either way in the multiple job compile.

I would never let other groups into the DataStage directories. You should write files which other applications need into directories outside of the project or DataStage engine. These directories can be wide open.

Some moron might vi a hash file like the VOC and shutdown DataStage.

You can work around it by spliting the feed into multiple files or feeds.

You probably have a memory leak. You need to figure out where. It may be in the ODBC driver.

You could do it at the project level. There was a post recently where I posted shell scripts to set it up.

Do a search. If you cannot find then let us know.

We think the bulk loader is pretty important. The 32 bit one does not work with the 64 bit database so far. Also there is no 64 bit version either. Soon I hope.

The bulk loader is a Microsoft problem. There is no 64 bit client for SQL Server. Can you believe it? Enterprise Manager has to run on another box, a 32 bit one.

Windows 2003 64 bit

Has anyone installed DataStage on a Windows 2003 64 bit server? We are trying to do this.

We are also trying to use Sql Server 64 bit. The bulk loader does not work. QualityStage does not install. Besides that it seems to work fine.

Usually this is easier to use the dsjob command to start the job instead of WaitForFile. There is a script which delivers this file in the first place. Just add this command to the end of the script.
