There is also the Data Warehouse ETL Toolkit by Caserta and Kimball that you can pick from bookstores. It's probably the most relevent reference book out there for DataStage (given that there are no DataStage books yet).

I thought the points was based on the length of the replies. Quotes and code don't seem to contribute to points. Time spent is not accurate as I often start a reply, go and do something else, then come back and finish it.

I think the premium posters should be able to enable or disable the button for each post. Some posts may be more then three lines but consist of free content such as a quote or a four or five line answer.

Getting peoples answers chopped off after three lines is extremely annoying. It's right up there with rental DVDs that freeze up and receiving a mobile phone call whilst on the toilet.

I would advise against using a dev message handler or trying to setup your message handler in dev. You don't have a lot of control over who uses it and none of the jobs in dev have been properly tested. I try to setup the message handler either directly in production or in a UAT test environment. Th...

Let's see if I've got this right, FEMS sends OIM XML via MQ to WWPRT RDBMS with BRL for CBS and you want to know if you can use RTI. Even if I did have half an hour to spare and an acronym database I still don't know whether I could answer the question. Try Ascential sales. RTI or the MQ plugin or D...

Your input and your output are both sequential files so try making your parallel job remain in sequential mode and it wont run that much slower. Easiest way is to create a config file with just one node in it, add the $APT_CONFIG_FILE environment variable to your job and set it to the 1node config f...

Message handlers can be migrated by moving the underlying file. See the addition to the FAQ on message handlers.

In parallel jobs there is the changed data capture stage which identifies inserts, updates, deletes and unchanged rows. Have a look at the Parallel Job Developers Guide for a description. You can also read my DataStage blog on Incremental Loads save the day which links to a wiki entry on the subject.

Monthly top 10 poster list

As I mentioned in the Craig 5K countdown thread I think it would be great to have the monthly top 10 posters appear above or below the all time top 10 posters list to show recognition to some of our newer members.

Gee, Kim hit 2500 and no one said boo! Well done guys on your approaching 10000 and 5000. Good to see Kumar enter the top 10. How about another box of the top monthly posters? This will filter out those of the top 10 who are no longer active or on holiday and give recognition to other active posters.

The PeopleSoft schema has a LOT of tables and can be very difficult to extract and load directly. That's why Ascential offer the PeopleSoft Pack for getting info out of PeopleSoft databases and providing a more accessible layer. If you have PeopleSoft-EPM you should get all the DataStage jobs and th...

Informatica buys Similarity Systems

Thought this was pretty big news and it gives Informatica a suite that is almost a one for one match with WebSphere Information integration. See my latest blog for an analysis.
