Generally this is done via Information Services Director, a.k.a. wISD. That is a big topic in and of itself. Take a look around here, and at the documentation and then share any other questions you have....

I've seen it done via JavaPack and also with the old Perl Stage that we used to have. Should be fairly simple for anyone who has done http inside of a Java class.....

For something like this, there is not enough to go on.... 4 seconds to 12 seconds? That sounds like initialization time and little else. That could simply be overhead of 8.x itself, the EJB calls that are made to get things going, the authentication, etc. The only valid comparison is going to be a t...

I don't recall any namespace specific patches for 7, but that doesn't mean there weren't any. Namespaces can be very confusing, especially if you have any default namespaces (without a specific prefix). Those are some of the most confusing, where you will have xmlns="http...." without a pr...

Ok... that's a strange one I'll have to try to track down. The option to import from a .dsx doesn't exist in my copy of RDA...did you access it from the general File...Import menu selection or somewhere else? Do you have any particular extra Eclipse plugins on top of your instance of IDA?

Ok...was curious. Not a bridge I've used against IDA, though I tried it with RDA years ago. I'm running IDA 7.5.1 and will try and see if I have similar results.

Nothing is shared. Metadata movement between Information Server and IDA is via the bridges and brokers only.

Are you certain that there are no decimals in the source.....the fact that you now bring it over as varchar (assuming it just has a length of "n" now and no other specification of datatype or precision or anything) and yet reporting that the decimals appear ok isn't usually possible. Eithe...

Which bridge are you using? ...and are you using the Import Export Manager or one of the options inside of IDA?

Try going into your DSParams file (in the Project directory) and switch the RTLogging and ORLogging settings. That seems to always do it for me. Note -- this disables sending the log details to xmeta, so may have an impact on the web reporting capabilities for the DS log, if you are using them. Ernie

Is this still the return from the WS Transformer? 2GB? :P If so, what are they trying to do? If not, ok...skip the rest of this note. This is a poor reason to use a Web Service.... Have they actually tested their Server side SOAP solution on a payload that big? I also have serious doubts that WSPack...

Good points on v8, but even beyond 8.x architecture, it's very easy to find scenarios where a 7.5 on Windows will run circles around the same Job running on 7.5 on a larger HP. The Job configuration, what else is being done on the machine, even the chip speed could have impact..... we need to unders...

Hi Andy Sorry I wasn't able to chime in earlier. How did it go? I like your idea of the web/SOA approach, except I'd be concerned about volumes of data....how many records are in this encypted packet? Several k ? Serveral Meg? Hundreds of Meg? Assuming the CastIron team can get the service working, ...

hmm. Good question (RCP)....not sure if the XML Stages support it, or if it even makes sense for them to do so...their architecture is so different, as they use dynamically generated xslt under the covers. Best bet is to probably use the ability to pass your own xslt "on the fly" to the jo...

How many of you have built/used a "glossary" of so

Hi all... Was at Cognos Forum last week. Was even surprised myself by the amount of interest in Business Glossary. Seems many sites have built their own and don't want to manage the technical parts of it any longer (the collection and management of a good set of definitions and corporate vocabulary ...
