I've posted here and on DeveloperWorks as well as opening a PMR.

Reviewing the BAT file does not help, as it simply passes the entire command line to java with com.ascential.asb.admin.appserver.tools.AppServerAdminCommand in CLASSPATH.

When you change the password of xmeta (the default owner of the XMETA database) you run AppServerAdmin with -db option to lock this information into "the system". I have been unable to find in the manuals whether there's an equivalent command to run after changing the password of user xmet...

None. You may or may not run out of resources if you have REALLY heavy-duty jobs but most modern hardware should cope OK with two nodes. I take it you have at least 6GB real memory (preferably at least 8GB) on the server?

... and you can specify your own encryption algorithm/software. The default (AES-128) is sufficient for my needs, even within Defence.

When you get to version 8.7 you can strongly encrypt the password whether it's on the command line or in an authentication file.
