Does anyone know that the environment variable UDD_CMT_DSADM is intended to do in a project? I have encountered this in two projects at one site, but no information about it. Search here got no hits, search on Google got no hits.

The job parameters grid can only select environment variables that have been defined in Administrator. Therefore you need to add it to Administrator first. Used Defined is as good a folder as any - getting it into the other folders is possible but tedious and more difficult to maintain.

Go to the stage types branch of the Repository where you can at least determine the version numbers of the relevant stage types by opening the properties.

There are lots of environment variables you can find in the manual that are not in the list in the Administrator. You can create any "user defined" environment variable definitions using the Administrator client.

The wonderful thing about standards is that there are so many from which to choose. I disagree with some of the above, and any answer I gave to the original question would be prefaced with "It depends, but...".

And do execute the dsenv script before entering the DataStage shell.

The NLS_LANG variable (used by database rather than by DataStage) is not set. Set it.

Agree with Craig's second approach, with the possibility of doing these derivations into meaningfully-named user variables for ease of future maintenance.

What do you claim to be missing when you use the -logdetail option?

Information Server Manager is not available in version 8.0. It becomes available when you upgrade to version 8.1.
