Lose The Graphics?

Post by ray.wurlod »

How about losing the large pictures from the home page - move them to an optionally selected side page? Over the past week I've been using various connection modes, including hotel dialup lines charged by the nanosecond. The time to load the home page (about which there's no choice) was quite costly.

Sure, splash things for a couple of days, but remember that a lot of our community are still using dialup connection.

Ray,
I was thinking the same thing a couple of days ago :),
Though it was mostly due to Old News and less relevance for keeping it as it is.

I think reducing them to link headlines would work just as well especially now that it is getting to be more of Old News.
This should solve slow network issues as well.

You actually wear the cost twice - when connecting to the site, then after logging in.

Luckily, I connect via broadband from all of my current locations. Still, I agree that it's time to go back to a more 'normal' home page with, as Roy notes, perhaps a link to a sub-page with the 10K and/or LV who-ha on it.

Lose the fireworks. We're well over 0.1 lakhs now.
