What's new in 11.7 Fix Pack 1

Post by qt_ky »

11.7 Fix Pack 1 is available to download.

There are many new features listed by product, including several new connectors and expanded support of existing connectors.

The integration with GitHub sounds interesting.

You may be unfamiliar with some of the products listed if you are migrating from an earlier version of Information Server.

* Information Governance Catalog New: is a new web application introduced in 11.7 that is a new take on IGC - it is less focused on the Glossary (no Category Hierarchy or Policy Tree) and more focussed on Information Assets (better search). This application will not work unless you provision the new Enterprise Search server.

* Enterprise Search: a new search portal for Information Server metadata which uses open source technologies such as Solr. Replaces the old and mostly unsuccessful Watson Explorer add on.

* Information Governance Catalog: the old version of IGC is still around and so far I still prefer it because of the better Business Glossary support and the fact that I can't be bothered at most sites to provision an Enterprise Search server.

* Governance Monitor: is a new Dashboard that shows a Data Curator governance page and a Data Quality governance page. Shows some basic stats around how many assets have been assigned stewards and the stats on DQ rules. It is meant to replace the bundled Cognos with it's sample Governance reporting but doesn't seem to be configurable or customisable so not sure what purpose it could serve in a governance program.

* DataStage Flow Designer: the new web based version of the DataStage thick client. The old DataStage tools will continue to be supported.

Thank you Vincent for sharing your healthy perspective and Craig for being the ever loyal supporting fan! You might need to get yourself one of those new IBM Cloud accounts to check out all these new additions.

Pretty sure (without checking, but from conversing with IBM Support) that it should be there already.

Hi Ray,
I do not see it on the Passport Advantage.
However, there is a docker image
IBM InfoSphere DataStage Container V11.7.0.1 Linux x86 64 Multilingual (CNU22ML)

Thanks

Fix Pack 1 is definitely available on Fix Central. We installed it June 13, 2018.

As far as having it bundled as part of a fresh install, sometimes IBM will make those available and sometimes not. No idea about their plans... You would need to ask IBM Support about that. Don't hold your breath while you wait!
