IA Projects Location & job export & Import

Post by Oritech »

We have created few projects in Information Analyser of IIS 8.1, but wondering where it gets created on operating system & how can we export & import the content of projects similar to facilities in Datastage & QualityStage.
This enables us in specifying the location & migrating of the projects from one to other environments as per need.

Thanks in Advance

This is a very good question.

I can't remember reading anything that suggests you can migrate the column analysis type jobs from one server to another server on version v8.1.

Are you on v8.1 or v8.1.1?

There may not be much experience of this out there to share. Perhaps you'd be better off pinging your official support provider.

That's a rare scenario. Should be quite exciting to do this, here are few pointers:

>> Export the IADB repository from the source machine and import the IADB repository to the target machine (Should be homogeneous databases). IA repository holds most of the current project related information.

>>If you have enabled retain scripts in the current IA project environment you can try to migrate DataStage jobs from ANALYZERPROJECT (Or your custom IA DataStage project) to the new IA DataStage project.

>>Export-Import the rule sets (Not sure if you have to do it separately)

>> Do not forget the metadata migration part.

These are few things I can think about, as I said this indeed is a rare case !! Good luck.

I spoke Friday with the vendor support on migrating IA data from one location to another, although it was ISv8.0.1 on Linux to ISv8.1 on AIX. I was told that a migration procedure is being developed but is not currently certified and no delivery date has been given, i.e. they are working on it.

For your reference, the PMR is 61043 499 000.

It's now 10 months since the last post on this. Does anyone know of any developments?

Our project is now at this same stage, where we are doing a POC on deploying an IA project from one server to another.

Welcome to the leading edge!!!

(My project will be getting there in a month or so.)

IA Projects aren't actually created on disk anywhere. When IA is installed the DataStage project ANALYZERPROJECT (unless you rename it during the installation) is created. IA writes osh scripts directly - it runs DataStage jobs but does not provide a graphical interface. Most of the information about IA projects is stored in XMETA tables.

Argh! I'm not a premium member yet and I don't see your full reply, Ray. :(

How's everyone at Zenith though? Please say hi to Tony, Amar, Tim and Brad for me.
