Installation of Datastage 8.1 into Wondows 7 Home Edition
Hi All,
I am trying to install datastage 8.1 into Windows 7 Home Edition (64 bit). And when run setup , the setup wizard disable the Services and Engine component from the setup. Is it because of incompatibility with 64 bit windows operating system.
Could please anyone of you help how to install datastage 8.1 into Windows 7 home edition.
Thanks,
Satish

Windows 7 is supported for the client, though I suspect that Home edition is not.
The other tiers are definitely not supported on Windows 7. As you note, they won't even install.

The official word from IBM.
You do speak IBM, right? If not, let me translate:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... SEF&mync=EWindows 7 qualifications will be done during 2010 for Information Server V8.1 clients.
Currently there are no plans to qualify older versions of DataStage.
Running these older DataStage clients in XP Compatibility Mode may be an option but there are also no plans to test this functionality in the near future.
It is recommended that customers test rigorously if there is firm requirement to use Windows 7 with older DataStage clients.

"Umm, we don't know nothing about no Windows 7 thingys. Just keep paying us for annual support and we might do something non-specific later this year. You know, 12 months (12 frigging MONTHS!) after it arrives on the store shelves, we might get around to testing it with our current software version. What's that, you're running an older version? Well you're screwed."
