Which one is good to use either Transformer Stage or Filter Stage according to the performance?

I belive in latest versions (7.5V onwards) transformer is not a performance overhead.

Everything is a performance overhead, for some particular meaning of "performance".

Often this includes the component between the keyboard and the chair.
