How about a poll to see if people would like to take a poll on interesting ideas for polls?

How about a poll on who is thinking of going to Information on Demand 2007.

Roy - how about you selecting what you think of as the "10 worst subject lines" and let us rank them. Although the outcome might be close we can see if such subject lines as "Data Stage", "Error", or "Help!" will win.

Dont forget to put "Hi" in the top 10 worst subject lines.

Thinking:"What was I thinking of when I posted this question?" right now
Just kidding

Come on people, can't you (each) give also a good idea among those jokes :?:
Arnd's "10 worst subject lines" might be a nice twist
 Need more input :!:

A poll is a waste of time unless it's going to be used for some sensible purpose. It's probably worth asking how to get DSXchange to break even; right now premium memberships don't even cover the bandwidth costs - we exist through Dennis's financial generosity, and I think it's unreasonable to expect this to last indefinitely. One possibility is, of course, advertising. Another might be selling the ability to post on the Talent Wanted forum. I'd poll each of these separately with a scale of 1 to 5.

Why do we need a poll "should we sell add space here?"
The poll regarding ways to cover site costs was made long ago.
If costs are not met, the owner has any right to concider any means to get them covered.
Perhaps Dennis might want to post a revised poll

A poll offers the chance to be serious, but also to lighten up a bit --- these are great ideas....a fun one once in awhile isn't a bad thing --- and Dennis' generosity wouldn't mind either. We spend enough time out here..... and isn't the idea to get people out to the site more often?

This software is capable of polls, I believe. The forum itself will police what polls are acceptable and which aren't. Tasteful fun ones, once in awhile, ought to be just as welcome as the serious ones.

Yes, definitely. And I tease Roy about this at times, because he is our resident Poll King.

Separate them into a separate forum....a sports one I belong to calls it the "Poll Booth"..... then people can go there if they want, or just ignore 'em.
