SAP ABAP Extract RFC Destination unusable - BG_JOB_TIMEOUT

Heelo,

We are using IBM Datastage 8.7. The SAP ABAP Extract uses qRFC Transfer method. SAP Basis provides us a STATIC RFC destination which we use to generate the ABAP Program ( we don't allow data stage to create or delete RFCs)

The problem is, every time a job fails due to wrong param or when the SAP gateway host is down the program times out with the following error

"ABAP background job time-out occurred as defined using BG_JOB_TIMEOUT property."

After which the RFC no is unusable. Job always times out We have to go thru changing the program and the RFC no every time. This is not a supportable solution. Even if SAP Basis deletes and recreates the RFC # it doesn't seem to work.

Has anyone come across this issue? has this been resolved? any input would help us.
