Reading VSAM files from Mainframe using Classic Fed Stage

Hi all,
Trying to figure out a way to read VSAM files from mainframe (z/OS V2.2 system running Db2 for z/OS V11.1)
We are using Datastage 11.7.1 and InfoSphere Classic Federation Server.
We created ODBC connection between mainframe and Datastage using "IBM Infosphere Classic ODBC Driver V11.3"
We also have Classic Data Architect installed.
From what I understand we can use Classic Federation Enterprise Stage to access VSAM files ( we have various COBOL copybooks with file definitions)?
Can anybody provide any guidance on how to actually read VSAM files and set up metadata (definitions) using COBOL copybooks so we can use Classic Federation Stage?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
