Can we have option like missing file mode for Dataset?

We have generic job, which compares the data and creates dataset,
based on that out put dataset my second job will run, but the problem is if we didnt have data compare job not creating dataset, so the second job getting failed and throwing error no input dataset available..
Can you please help to provide your suggestions to resolve this issue
