Install time for minimal 8.1 config

Post by crouse »

Anyone have experience installing a minimal 8.1 on Linux?

I'm loading on a single box just for evaluation purposes (not intended to run any jobs of any size).

The box is a VM with 2 CPU's and 4G of memory and one disk.

The install script indicates I'm less than 1/2 the way through and at that point 4 hours have elapsed.

Installing WAS, DS and QS (Services and Engine)...
Repository is Oracle (+750 tables are created by that point of the install)
Oracle is remote.

Thanks,
Craig

The install progress indicator is just plain wrong. I did an install yesterday and it progressed erratically up to about 60% and then jumped immediately to "Finished". And that was a "select all" install. (Alas, I did not keep track of how long it went; I did some documentation on another workstation while it was running and it was done when I returned.)
