problem with importing table definitions

Post by kirankota79 »

When i logon to designer, everything is fine when working with jobs. But when i want to import some table definitions the designer is not responding. I am able to connect through ODBC and filter the tables i need to import, but when i press the IMPORT button, it is a never ending process. Where does the problem lies. I tried 4 to 5 times and it is happening the same way. i have to close the designer through task manager

any clues?

Try and import through Manager.

Sounds to me like a DB connection issue.

What database are you connecting to via ODBC - I have seen the same issue connecting to DB2, but I can't remember for the life of me what the solution is. Anyway, please confirm your DB and I'll keep trying to remember!

This happened to me once too. Try using the Plug in Meta data extraction versus ODBC.

What changed?

"Nothing" clearly is not the correct answer.

As wesd said i tried Plug in Meta data extraction, and that too is hanging. The DBA said that they hadn't done any changes. I was working till last evening and today suddenly it is creating problems. please give me some clues...
