Configuration File Tuning

Post by PeteM2 »

We currently have a 2 node enterprise configuration but are thinking of
increasing this. We can create as many file systems as required with each file system being allocated as much disc storage as required.

Below is our current AIX server configuration.
what is the optimum node and resource disk configuration based on
the below resources:-

P5 P595 LPAR - Shared Processor, AIX=5.3.0.0
Desired CPU = 5
Assigned Virtual = 8 - LPAR is uncapped so will obtain up to 8 if
required and providing free CPU cycles (Frame running ~50% utilised)

Also worth noting that because of Simultaneous Multithreading AIX
actually see 16 CPU"s available if this makes a difference to Datastage
config.

Memory = 50GB - 16GB Allocated to RAMDISK.
thanks

Ideally number of nodes in the configuration file = Half the cores.

So you can start with 8 node configuration file and then test how it works.

I think the above rule of thumb is a good starting point rather than an ideal ending point.
