Regarding Connecting to iseries data from Datastage

Post by bgudapati »

Hi Experts,

I do have question regarding connecting to iseries data from Datastage V8.5

The client company has purchased DB2 Connect for iseries processor.

I have Infosphere information server installed on Aix 6.1
Do I have to install DB2 connect server as well as client on Aix 6.1 and also what I have to configure on iseries for the connection.

can anyone give ideas or links

Thanks

You only need to install the DB2 Connect client on your AIX box, then you have to catalog the server and the database in oder to be able to establish a connection to your iSeries box.

the best way to acsess data on iseries is to use ODBC.

It's been a while since accessing iSeries for me. I recall using a DataDirect ODBC driver called SequeLink ODBC, an add-on product, with the client on DataStage and server on AS/400. I think if you have DB2 Connect then you can use DB2 instead of ODBC.
