DataStage Upgrade

Post by Curious George »

Hi All,

We are currently in the process of upgrading from DataStage v8.5 to v9.1
Linux is the Platform that is used currently and will be used for the future version as well.

I have never worked in an upgrade project before and would like to understand the steps that should be performed for upgrading from v8.5 to v9.1.

Apologize for my lack of knowledge.

Kindly share any inputs that you might have pertaining to this query.

Thanks,
George

There are couple of things you can do

1. If the 9.1 version is already installed and you are moving just the jobs, you can run the ISA lite report on 9.1 and check with the report you run in 8.5

2. Use the Operations console and get the server stats, like CPU,memory and swap space ...etc

3. make sure you have /temp 4GB

4. create the necessary mount points in new servers

5. configure the default.apt file according to the server

6. Connectors and plugins, binaries, open any firewall ports and check the ID's, compiler settings

7. Please check if you apply any special patches in V8.5 and make sure they are there in V9.1

Thanks
A Kumar

Hi,

Thanks for your response. As of now DataStage v9.1 is not installed. We currently have only v8.5.

Use the (free) IBM Concierge service to help you to plan your upgrade. They will produce a checklist to make sure you don't miss anything.

Looks like the concierge program is done, as is the migration tool.
The InfoSphere Information Server Concierge Program is withdrawn as of Dec 21, 2013
The "migration tool" is no longer generally available
