DS8.5 Post Installation Steps

HI Admins,

I was successfully installed DataStage server and clients.

getting little bit confusion on Post installation steps ( firewall exceptions & SSL).

i am unable to connect to server using Designer client / console.

what are the steps need to perform.

What error are you receiving exactly? There can be quite a few reasons that you cannot connect.

Connnection timeout

HTTP 404 not found..

As far as connectivity is concerned there are really no post installation steps. You should be able to use the console, add a user and then connect. You will need to verify that you can ping the host system from your desktop. Make sure your hosts file on your desktop is correct if not using DHCP/DNS.

I am not the pro with installs, but most problems encountered like this relate to hostname resolution. Ports can be an issue, but that is more rare.

What is the URL you entered that causing you received the HTTP 404 not found?

Good point - should be -

Code: Select all

protocol//host:port/ibm/iis/console
where protocol is either HTTP or HTTPS, port is either 9080 or 9443 (ssl)

Both 9080 and 9443 are default values so if you happened to have changed them then use the port you defined.
