istool / Information Server Manager patch

Post by asorrell »

After an IBM DataStage System Architect and I lost several hours trying to get istool and Information Server Manager (new 8.1 feature) to work, we gave up and called Customer Service. It turns out there is already a sizable patch that is required before they'll even talk to you about your problems with those tools because the exit codes and error codes don't work on the product shipped in 8.1.

So - if you are struggling to get either of these two to work as advertised - I'd suggest calling Customer Service and asking for the istool patch - for Linux it was patch JR316511.

Thanks for this info, Andy. This did help me a great deal back a few months when I was also scratching my head on issues using istool.

However, I just wanted to make a friendly update to anyone who may reference this note.

The patch mentioned (JR316511) is now superceded by JR31444 (JR31444 Read Me), which is now included in the Fix Pack 1 (Version 8.1 Fix Pack 1, fix list)

The return codes have never worked on the client side tools.
