Importing and Exporting maps to and from XML?

Hey.
I've been away from TX a while. Last version I used was 8.0(124)ish.
Now I have installed version: 8.2.0.3 Build id: 58.
Question 1: Is the import map from XML function gone now? There was a possibility for this is 8.0.
Question 2: Is the another way to make mms files compatible over different versions than via import and export xml as source files?
