Difference between TX, Hawk and SOA....

Formally known as "Mercator Inside Integrator 6.7", DataStage TX enables high-volume, complex transactions without the need for additional coding.

Difference between TX, Hawk and SOA....

Post by koojo »

We currently have the Enterprise Edition and will upgrade to Hawk (Integration Server)...Is the SOA and TX Edition run on a different server (different from the Integration server)...Is comparing TX & SOA with Hawk like comparing apples and oranges...

Would TX/SOA have the same performance levels as the Enterprise edition...Can TX/SOA run on a UNIX server...

Where can I find literature on the difference between HAWK,TX, RTI and SOA Editions of DataStage....

'Hawk' was a code name, it is actually the 8.x version of the Enterprise Edition of DataStage.

What I always thought was interesting was Ascential always led me to believe that Hawk was there next version of DSTX.

But going to user group meetings I felt they used it for both DS and DSTX. That the products were going to be merged into one.

When I tested the beta DSTX 8.0 it was referred to as Hawk by Ascential. Did they also refer to the most recent release of DS as Hawk?

PS: still don't like the new look in 8.1

No. They (usually marketing) typically choose names that convey a message about speed, aggression, whatever. So DB2 v9 was "Viper", DataStage (etc) v8 was "Hawk" (fast and deadly is the message). An earlier version was codenamed "Kobe" - not sure that that was intended to convey!

Wasn't there a 'Sorcerer' in there somewhere, too?
