link from one sequential file stage to merge stage the error posed is -- " A
call to OLE server failed or runtime error occurred within OLE server o

merge stage problem

Post by admin »

"SMS" (= "spooky Microsoft stuff")

The DataStage clients are written to make use of objects exposed by an ActiveX control (OLE server). Somehow, somewhere, Windows has lost track of a connection between a server and the consumer (your DataStage client) of some particular object.

It's a wonderfully informative message, isn't it? The only workarounds are (1) close all your DataStage clients and re-connect (which should re-establish the objects), or (2) the "Microsoft solution" (re-boot the client).
