Japanese Data in SQL Server 2000

Yes I tired that too, still not working. In the mean while I created a text file with japanese data and loaded it into another text file and that data is getting garbled too. Any other thoughts?

I'm going to have to defer to Ray on this one, never having had the pleasure of dealing with character sets that actually required NLS be installed. From one of his earlier replies, and the issues you've been seeing, that seems to be a necessary step here.

I installed datastage on my local machine with NLS enabled and set the project default mapping to none and its working!!!.
