Server Upgrade Problem

Post by us1aslam1us »

Hi Dxians,

I had been upgrading DataStage 7.5.1.A version server installation and due to some acces issues with my login credentials after some time the upgrade process failed.
Now when i tried again to upgrade the server the projects doesn't show up there, they seemed to be gone. I tried logging in from designer but it shouts back at me with the following message:

Code: Select all

Failed to connect to host: project: UV
(The Universe license has expired (39121))
Can someone guide me how to get those projects back and how to proceed further.

Regards
sAM

The licence has expired.
Obtain a licence that has not expired.
The usual process involves giving your support provider money.

Thanks Ray for your reply.
I already opened an ecase with the support provider for new license but my query is " whether i will be able to connect and access the old projects after the installation/upgrade". It am not able to access it right now.

You should find that, one the licence is renewed, that everything will be intact. An expiring licence does not remove anything from the system.

With the new license it is giving me another error message:

Code: Select all

The License supplied doesn't match with your existing serial number
please check the authorization details
Dang!! IBM support is so lazy in response.

Thanks

You need to get a new authorization code for your existing serial number - otherwise you would need to completely re-install, and you don't need to.

Afte a long day, i got to know from IBM support that my previous installation got "hosed" and they asked me to re-install with the new authorization codes. I had done the re-install and got my project re-imported back and in next few days i have to analyze the behaviour of the jobs on the new install. Hope everything goes fine.

Thanks for all help

sAM,

If it makes you feel any better, some people would do the upgrade the way you wound up doing it anyway. I never really liked upgrades so I always installed then imported the projects. Then one contract insisted on an upgrade and DS 5.x went to DS 7.x on Unix and it worked. So now I am OK with Upgrades.

Thanks Flash that makes me feel better but isn't it a good approach to do an upgrade rather than a re-install unless in my current position when there is no other go.
