release job disabled

Post by djoni »

Why is my "Release Job" disabled (grayed out) in Manager (Tools drop down selection)?

Per the help
If you are developing a job for users on another DataStage system, you must label the job as ready for deployment before you can package it.

To label a job for deployment, you must release it. A job can be released when it has been compiled and validated successfully at least once in its life.
Do you have any jobs in your folder that are compiled and have been validated or ran once?

Did you select the job before you checked the Release JOB. Unless one of the job is selected, it will not be enabled

Yes, I did.
Tried one by one of all ready for release (compiled, validated). Every one did not change the 'Release job", still grayed/disabled.
This is on a brand new EE installation on AIX.
We wrote four various simple jobs with three to five stages each.

Are they server jobs, job sequences or parallel jobs?

I don't believe the release mechanism will work for parallel jobs. Maybe it's been deprecated for all job types.

For some time, now, the Release mechanism has been deprecated in favour of the Version Control mechanism.

I tried all three, the Release Jobs are disabled for all of 'em.

Has anyone used the Release Jobs in 7.5?

Sorry, no - with the advent of Version Control I haven't released a job since the 4.x release.

Ray Wulard is right!

"Release Job" is our old way of doing version control, however we have
a full function Version Control subsystem now, so EE jobs were not
enabled for "Release Job
".
