Protected Projects - Project Maintanance

Post by roy »

I'd love to be able to promote/compile jobs in a protected project without having to open it up to everyone else.
I would prefer a new status like maintanance so I can switch between existing protected state and promotions to the TEST/PROD projects

I wish, I wish, I wish...

Can't you simply use the Business Manager role to allow this?

You can promote code but cannot compile if the project is protected

Yes. The 'Production Manager' role, technically. Also 'dsadm' or the equivalent 'administrative' user.

I thought I was and couldn't perform something  ,
I'll double check, perhaps I missed something

Well Docs say you can only import and I need to compile imported jobs,
I'd love to hear if I overlooked anything...

Have you tried it as 'dsadm', Roy?

I've got one protected project and can swear I could compile there. You may not be able to open a job in the Designer and compile, but may have to go the Manager / Multi Job Compiler route - don't recall.

Well My dsadm account has the developer's group as primary and the Production manager secondary group and project permitions granted to that group as production manager.
All directories and projects were created using dsadm user, still no compile option is enabled while project is protected when I checked it and import option is enabled as documented.

I'll test again tomorrow.

As I said import works but not compile and multi compile tool disabled :(
I'd like to know if anyone here knows of any configuration allowing compile in protected projects.
